New Analysis of the GOP ACA Repeal Bill Estimates Job Losses of Nearly 2 Million

March 20, 2017
Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Researchers at the George Washington University (GWU) released a study estimating the likely employment impact of the Republican American Health Care Act (AHCA).  The new analysis finds the Republican TrumpCare bill will destroy 1.8 million jobs nationwide in 2022.

Congresswoman Hanabusa:  This report further documents the destructive consequences of the Republican ACA repeal bill, well beyond the estimated 24 million Americans losing their health care coverage.  The GWU analysis considered both the supply and demand side of the economy, including the economic impact of less government spending on subsidies for private insurance and Medicaid.  The results show TrumpCare will not only leave many Hawaii residents without health care coverage, but it will also result in job losses that will weaken our state economy.  This is just another reason to fight the Republican plan to repeal the ACA bill.
