Congresswoman Hanabusa’s Statement on Mail Bombs
“We condemn these acts of terror. Thankfully, the Secret Service, United States Postal Service and first responders were able to ensure that no one got hurt. Too much of our political discourse in this country is toxic and divisive. Prior to his comments this afternoon, President Trump routinely employed anger, racism, and violent rhetoric to fire up his supporters and sow division within our communities. Hopefully the President and those who enable him realize that words and actions have consequences and create an environment where those who would commit acts of violence feel empowered. Every individual and organization that received a mail bomb today has been a frequent target of Trump and his backers. Enough is enough. It is time to come together, in true bipartisan fashion, and bring civility and professionalism back to governing and our political debates,” said Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa.
